To complete my post-professional maturity in Visual and Applied Arts, I had to carry out an interdisciplinary project. I chose the theme “Manipulation?” in connection with my profession as a clothing designer. My project involves comparing how an outfit looks when worn by two individuals with different body types: one with a “model” physique and another with a more typical, everyday physique. To achieve this, I integrated the fields of Arts & Culture to analyze the evolution of beauty standards since the 20th century, and Information & Communication to explore manipulation in the fashion industry and its psychological impact.

I began by researching the spring/summer 2021 trends, watching runway shows from major fashion houses like Chanel, Rokh and shiatzy Chen. I selected trends that resonated with me, such as puffed sleeves, transparency, crop tops, and flare jeans. After making several sketches incorporating those elements, I finalized an outfit consisting of a sleeveless blazer and an asymmetrical skirt with geometric cutouts. I used a variety of materials: gabardine for the top and the longer part of the skirt, leather for the shorter part, and muslin for the transparent section, all in a total black look.
Sketches and final drawings
The brand’s style is highly graphic, monochromatic, futuristic, and somewhat deconstructed, while maintaining an organized look. These are minimalist garments, inspired by the minimalist movement of the late 20th century, with a focus on details and cuts. The style is influenced by Asian fashion and the anti-fashion movement of the 1990s, particularly by Japanese designers such as Yamamoto. Included here is a moodboard featuring photos of outfits that embody the spirit of the Blackmoon brand.

My work is presented in the layout of a fashion magazine to better showcase the brand’s aesthetic. This approach helps convey the brand’s universe and emphasizes the contrasts between the two models. It also highlights the garment being worn, giving it movement and a sense of life, rather than simply displaying it on a hanger.
